Miami-Dade, FL – Christopher Lopez Killed in Hit-and-Run on NW 119th St.

Miami, FL – Construction Accident on Bird Rd near SW 114th Ave Takes Woman’s Life

Miami-Dade, FL (April 24, 2021) – Police in Miami responded to the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash that took place in Northwest Miami-Dade earlier this week. The accident happened on Monday, April 19th at approximately 12:35 a.m.

Police responded to the scene on Northwest 119th Street near the intersection with 22nd Avenue. According to a report from officials, seven people were traveling in a minivan on 119th Street when their vehicle was hit from behind by a Dodge Charger. The driver of the Charger fled the scene after the collision.

Officials say that a 23-year-old man, who was a rear-seat passenger in the van, suffered critical injuries in the accident. He was rushed to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he later died. The six other passengers in the van were transported in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The deceased victim was later identified as Christopher Lopez.

Police are still searching for the driver of the Charger at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Miami-Dade Police Department. There are no further details available.

We would like to offer our thoughts and condolences to the family of Christopher Lopez following this tragic hit-and-run crash in Miami.

Florida Hit-and-Run Accidents

Hit-and-run accidents in Florida account for approximately 20% of all reported Florida car accidents. The number of these crashes across our state is substantial. In 2019, more than 100,000 hit-and-run collisions were reported in Florida. Many hit-and-run accidents leave the victims with severe injuries and, in the worst-case scenario, will be fatal. The drivers who commit a hit-and-run often flee the scene knowing that they have caused a crash that resulted in serious injury. By leaving the scene, they are hoping to avoid responsibility for their actions.
