Miami-Dade, FL – Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Vehicle near SW 128th St & 137th Ave

Hillsboro Beach, FL - Three Bicyclists Injured in Saturday Crash on Hillsboro Mile

Miami-Dade, FL (April 26, 2021) – Police in Miami-Dade are currently investigating the circumstances of a deadly pedestrian accident that occurred in southwest Miami-Dade on the morning of Monday, April 26. The incident was reported just before 6:00 a.m. near the Miami Executive Airport.

Sources state that the wreck happened near Southwest 128th Street and 137th Avenue when a man was fatally hit by a vehicle while riding his bike. The driver stayed on-site and cooperated with police, according to reports.

No one involved has been identified at this time. Police and paramedics worked at the site of the accident after it occurred, causing moderate traffic delays throughout the area. Drivers were advised to avoid the intersection while crews worked to secure the crash scene.

Police continue to investigate the details of the collision.

Our thoughts are with everyone involved and affected by this crash. We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.

Pedestrian Collisions in Florida

Along with distracted driving, a high rate of pedestrian fatalities are caused by alcohol use on the part of either the pedestrian or the driver. The majority of critical pedestrian accidents take place in metropolitan areas after dark. Most of these accidents also occur mid-block instead of in intersections. This suggests that most pedestrian fatalities happen due to an inadequate number of crosswalks and traffic control tools.

If you recently lost a loved one to wrongful death in Florida, the law entitles the personal representative of their estate, typically a surviving parent, child, or spouse, to file a wrongful death suit in state court for financial compensation for monetary damages.
