Key Largo, FL – Three Killed in Saturday Motorcycle Crash on U.S. 1

Miami-Dade, FL - One Hospitalized Following Crash on NW 79th St

Key Largo, FL (January 17, 2021) – Three people were killed in a crash between a motorcycle and an SUV in Key Largo on Saturday night. The crash was reported just before 7:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 1 near the Buttonwood Ray condominiums.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene shortly after the accident occurred. Troopers say that a motorcycle and a Buick Enclave were involved in the accident.  The motorcycle driver and two people inside the Buick were killed in the accident. According to troopers, the Buick driver was making a left turn across U.S. 1 when it collided with the motorcycle. The motorcycle was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when the crash took place. Both vehicles erupted in flames after the crash. Rescue crews responded to the scene where they pronounced the three victims dead. The deceased individuals have not been identified at this time.

The crash resulted in traffic being backed up for several hours while crews worked at the scene. Motorists were urged to find alternate routes of travel. There is no further information available.

We wish to offer our most sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the tragic accident in Key Largo.

Fatal Accidents in Florida

Florida is one of the more dangerous states in the country for motorists. With more than 3,000 reported deaths on our roadways in 2019, drivers should always ensure that they are operating their vehicles in a safe manner and in compliance with all traffic laws. Unfortunately, not all drivers use the appropriate care and caution and their actions can directly lead to serious injuries and death for innocent victims.

If you have lost a loved one to a car accident in Florida, you are no doubt experiencing the toughest and most difficult time of your life. Nothing can mentally prepare a family member for the sudden loss and grief that accompanies such a tragedy. While no amount of money can replace your loss, you could be entitled to seek justice on behalf of your relative.

Under Florida law, a family member may initiate an action for wrongful death where their loved one was killed because of a negligent driver. Florida wrongful death law allows these cases to proceed and also allows victims to seek compensation for their losses. Some types of recoverable damages include funeral and medical bills, lost wages, loss of companionship, punitive damages, and potentially more.

A wrongful death claim is complicated and should only be handled by an attorney who is familiar with this area of the law. At Boone & Davis, our Key Largo wrongful death attorneys will have your back every step of the way. We will ensure that you receive the compensation you need and that justice will be served in your case.
