Ft Lauderdale, FL - Victims Identified in Fatal Plane Accident on I-75

Fort Lauderdale, FL (February 11, 2024) – The two deceased victims and five survivors of the plane crash on Interstate 75 have been now identified by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Sydney Ann Bosmans, 27, of Jupiter, along with two passengers, 35-year-old Aaron Baker and 23-year-old Audra Green, all of Columbus, Ohio, were treated for their injuries at an unknown local hospital. The pilot, Edward Daniel Murphy, 50, of Oakland Park, and the co-pilot, Ian Hofmann, 65, of Pompano Beach, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The National Transportation Safety Administration is still investigating why the private plane attempted an emergency landing on I-75 (Alligator Alley), struck a car, and crashed around 3:15 p.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the passengers in the cars hit by the plane survived but were hospitalized with unknown injuries.

We offer our sincere condolences to the families of Edward Daniel Murphy and Ian Hofmann. Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones in hopes of their full recovery.
