Fort Lauderdale, FL - Woman Injured in Apt Building Accident at NW 23rd Ave & Sixth St

Fort Lauderdale, FL (April 27, 2021) – A woman was transported to the hospital after her ceiling collapsed at an apartment building in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday morning, April 27.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene of the accident, which occurred at Northwest 23rd Avenue and Sixth Street just after 8:30 a.m. Officials said the ceiling in the woman’s rented unit came down, knocked over furniture, and scattered debris. The 50-year-old resident was hit in the head and transported to Broward Health Medical Center with injuries.

Premises Liability Accidents in Florida

Landlords and property owners have a duty to reasonably maintain their premises, including the inside of apartment buildings and the surrounding lots. When a dangerous or defective property condition causes you to suffer injuries, you may cope with astronomical medical expenses, lost income, and overwhelming pain and suffering. When another person’s negligence is responsible for your burn injury, like your apartment landlord neglecting to maintain their property or your employer disregarding OSHA regulations, you may be entitled to solicit financial compensation for the damages stated above and many others as well.

Landlords, insurance adjusters, site managers, and others will do everything in their power to minimize compensation for an injury victim. That is why if you or a family member have sustained an injury as a result of their negligence, it is essential that you reach out to a knowledgeable attorney immediately following your accident. The right attorney can help you bring the liable party to account for their negligence and work hard to ensure that you receive full and fair financial compensation.

If you were recently injured in an accident, Florida law entitles you to certain legal rights, such as soliciting full financial compensation for your accident-related injuries from the person responsible. The exact monetary value of your personal injury claim hinges on multiple variables, like the nature and degree of your injuries, the length of your hospitalization, whether or not you need any ongoing medical treatment such as physical therapy, the length of time you were forced to miss work, and if you suffered any emotional trauma, like disfigurement.

These factors and many more will be taken into consideration when a fair amount of monetary compensation for your claim is being determined.
