Coral Springs, FL – Student Killed in Scooter Collision on Stirling

Coral Springs, FL - Student Killed in Scooter Collision on Stirling

Coral Springs, FL (March 19, 2024) – The Cooper City High School student who was injured in a crash involving a Tesla while riding his scooter to school Monday morning has died from his injuries, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Anthony Malec, a 16-year-old in 11th grade, was pronounced dead at a hospital Tuesday morning, the Sheriff’s Office said. The incident occurred in the 9800 block of Stirling Road, near the high school, shortly after 8:00 a.m. The driver stayed at the scene, and the Sheriff’s Office said speeding and impairment were not considered factors in the crash. However, an inquiry is still ongoing.

We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased victim’s family.
