Belle Glade, FL – Richard Allen Killed in Truck Accident on SR-80

Belle Glade, FL - Richard Allen Killed in Truck Accident on SR-80

Belle Glade, FL (January 22, 2021) – A man was killed on Thursday, January 21st when his car and an 18-wheeler collided with one another east of Belle Glade.

The accident took place at about 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 80 and Hatton Highway when an 18-wheeler traveling northbound on Hatton attempted to cross SR-80 on a flashing red and drove directly into the path of a 2017 Chevrolet Impala driven by Allen.

The two vehicles collided and the Impala was wedged underneath the trailer portion of the 18-wheeler. An oncoming Toyota Tacoma SUV then struck the back of Allen’s vehicle.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the victim, who has since been identified as 56-year-old Richard Allen, a resident of Belle Glade, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, 39-year-old Adrian Ordas Rosado, a resident of Miami, was unharmed during the crash, as was the driver of the Toyota.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Richard Allen, at this time.

Just over 5% of Florida residents are involved in at least one car crash each year. With an estimated 16 million licensed drivers within the state’s borders, this equates to about 401,851 annual vehicle collisions across the state. When you take into account that most car accidents involve two vehicles, a resident’s odds of being involved in a vehicle collision during an average year are also around 5%.

If you have been involved in a car accident in Florida and suffered injuries, you could have valuable legal rights. The law is written such that injured crash victims can recover from the other driver if they were not at fault for the accident. The extent of your recovery will depend on many factors, including your age, the severity of your injuries, the need for costly present and future medical treatment, whether you lost wages as a result of the accident, and the degree to which you experienced debilitating pain and suffering due to the crash. All of these factors are evaluated when determining a fair outcome and resolution to your case.
