Ft Lauderdale, FL – Motel Fire Causes Injuries at SR 7 & Peters Rd

Ft Lauderdale, FL - Motel Fire Causes Injuries at SR 7 & Peters Rd

Fort Lauderdale, FL (October 11, 2023) – Overnight in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday, a major fire destroyed a hotel, forcing two families to find new homes and resulting in a handful of apparent injuries.

One man entered the blazing structure to save his family before firefighters arrived at the motel, located on the corner of State Road 7 and Peters Road. Two rooms were completely ablaze when firefighters arrived, and black smoke could be seen rising from the building.

They were able to stop the fire from spreading, but smoke from it damaged neighboring areas. EMTs also evaluated several people for smoke inhalation at the scene, but the total number of people affected is still unknown.

An inquiry into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured and their loved ones. We hope that they will make a complete recovery.
