Sunrise, FL – Passenger Killed in Crash on Sawgrass Expressway

Miami, FL - FHP Responds to Injury Crash on I-95 near U.S. 441

Sunrise, FL (April 25, 2021) – Officials in Sunrise are investigating after a deadly accident on Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 9:40 a.m. on the Sawgrass Expressway along West Sunshine Boulevard.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a car was traveling westbound on the Expressway when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of his vehicle. The car veered off the road and struck a barrier at the west end of Sunrise Boulevard. A passenger in the car was killed in the crash. The driver was not seriously injured. Neither the passenger nor the driver was identified by authorities and the driver remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities. Motorists were advised to use caution when traveling near the accident scene and to find alternate routes of travel if possible.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time. There is no additional information available.
