Car Accidents in Florida

According to statistics published by NHTSA, car accidents in Florida are reported about once every 92 seconds. This translates to more than 400,000 crashes each year and more than 250,000 injuries. In addition, in 2019, there were over 3,000 lives tragically lost due to these accidents. Certainly, many accidents are preventable through the use of ordinary care and caution, however, negligent drivers often drive in a manner that is irresponsible and places both themselves as well as others in danger of suffering serious injuries. Some common causes of Florida car accidents include distracted driving, speeding, reckless driving, impaired driving, and failing to yield at stoplights and stop signs.

If you have suffered injuries in a car accident, it is important to understand your legal rights as soon as possible. Initially, you may receive a call from an insurance adjuster immediately after the crash. The adjuster will want you to give a recorded statement regarding the events that led up to the accident and will ask you to provide them with a copy of your medical and prescription bills resulting from the crash. After this initial discussion, the adjuster may then make you a settlement offer to resolve your entire claim. While this offer may initially seem attractive, it is important not to accept the offer or sign any paperwork until you have first consulted with a trusted car accident attorney in Miami. Your attorney can evaluate your case and, together, you can make a decision regarding your best interest. Remember, the goal of the insurance company is to make a profit by settling your case as quickly and cheaply as possible.
