Miami Pedestrian Accidents

According to A Safer Florida, the Sunshine State has the highest pedestrian death rate in the nation. This could also be due to the fact that Florida possesses one of the highest populations in the nation which, in turn, makes for high accident rates.

Between 2005 and 2014, 46,149 individuals across the United States lost their lives due to fatal pedestrian accidents. During this same timespan, 5,142 people were killed in pedestrian accidents in Florida. This means that Florida accounted for approximately 11% of the pedestrian fatality rate in the nation from 2005 to 2014.

Pedestrians are at an increased risk of suffering severe and/or fatal injuries in traffic accidents due to being totally unprotected while traveling alongside much larger, faster vehicles. The consequences of serious pedestrian accidents can be extremely overwhelming and negatively affect multiple areas of a person’s life, including their physical, mental, emotional, and financial health.
