Miami, FL (August 8, 2021) – A Hialeah firefighter was killed after being hit by a vehicle in North Miami on Friday. The incident occurred on Northwest Fifth Avenue at the intersection with 135th Street.

Police and rescue crews responded to the area just after the accident took place. According to a report, Chris Villa was repairing a fence outside his home in Miami when a van and a car collided on the street in front of the house. The van lost control and crashed into a fence before striking Villa. Paramedics took Villa to the Ryder Trauma Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. Another man involved in the accident was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Prior to his death, Villa served with the Hialeah Fire Department for 24 years. Police are still investigating the crash. There is no further information available at this time.

We would like to offer our most sincere condolences to the family of Chris Villa following this tragic fatal accident in Miami.

Fatal Car Accidents in Miami

Florida is one of the most dangerous states in the country for motorists and others. A reportable car accident takes place in our state about once every 90 seconds. This means that anyone on or near the roadway can be at risk of being involved in a collision. Even bystanders can be in harm’s way in certain situations due to the actions of negligent motorists. Fatal car accidents in Miami take place each day and often claim the lives of innocent accident victims.

Following a Miami car accident, you should have a full understanding of your legal rights. This includes the option to pursue a wrongful death claim if your loved one was killed in a car accident that was not their fault. Florida law provides for the deceased victim’s next-of-kin to file a claim and to recover for certain types of damages. The available recovery includes payment for pain and suffering, loss of companionship, lost wages, punitive damages, and possibly more. In order to determine your options, it is important to speak with a Miami wrongful death lawyer who can advise you on the steps you should take to proceed.
