Hit-and-Run Accidents in Florida

A hit-and-run accident in Florida often results in serious and life-changing injuries for the victim. These crashes continue to take place in our state at an alarming rate. Last year, approximately 105,000 hit-and-run accidents occurred in our state. This total accounts for approximately 25% of all total reported crashes. Although drivers are legally required to remain at the scene of an injury crash, they often flee in an effort to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. These drivers can face severe criminal penalties as well as civil liability when they are finally apprehended.

While a hit-and-run accident can be frustrating, it is important to focus on what you can do in the aftermath of the accident. Under Florida law, motorists who are injured may have legal rights to recovery. When you have been seriously hurt, this means having your medical bills paid for and receiving full payment for your lost wages and your pain and suffering. A car accident attorney in Florida can fully advise you of your rights and help you along your path to recovery. Even if the other driver is never located, your attorney can ensure that you are compensated and not left in a position of being financially responsible for someone else’s negligence.
