Fort Lauderdale, FL – Two Hospitalized as SUV Plunges Off Ramp on I-95
Fort Lauderdale, FL (May 16, 2021) – Police and rescue crews responded to a crash involving an SUV on Saturday afternoon in Fort Lauderdale. The accident took place around 3:30 p.m. along Interstate 95 near the exit for State Road 84.
The Florida Highway Patrol, along with the Fort Lauderdale Police and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue were at the scene. According to a report from officials, a Cadillac SUV was traveling southbound when it struck an elevated entrance ramp on State Road 84. The car then went down an embankment and came to rest along the right shoulder of I-95.
Firefighters pulled both victims out of the SUV and transported them to Broward Health Medical Center. Both patients were taken as trauma alerts. The crash caused the southbound lanes to shut down while authorities investigated at the scene. Motorists were advised to use caution and to find alternate routes of travel if possible.
The identities of the victims were not immediately released. An investigation into the crash is underway.
